Our marine environment-adapted first aid courses

From June 2021, Vital Signs Scotland have partnered with Birmingham and Midland Marine Services Ltd to offer unique First Aid and First Responder courses especially adapted to suit those working on or near water, namely in a marine environment.

This could be work conducted on a canal towpath, under or on bridges, or along a river or any other potentially challenging marine environment which standard First Aid at Work courses are not designed to cover. Our courses are interactive and many of the practical sessions may be conducted near the water’s edge.

To ensure candidate safety, PPE such as lifejackets must be worn. We use the latest information, techniques and equipment deployed by the well-known Water Safety and Rescue Training company, Birmingham and Midland Marine Services Ltd, to bring relevance to your staff training.

As a ProTrainings approved centre, you can be certain that the course content is continuously updated in accordance with the latest recommendations. All ProTrainings course content has been independently certified as conforming to universally accepted Continuous Professional Development (CPD) guidelines.

Summary

The above courses are all regulated by TQUK and attract a small additional certification charge. All our courses are offered under the banner of ProTrainings. As regulated courses the certification gained by attendees is accepted throughout the UK by all major employers.

The courses have been adapted especially for those staff whose daily work is carried out on or near the water’s edge. Environments such as these present unique challenges, and it is essential that companies and organisations take this into consideration when arranging their staff training.

Our partner company, Birmingham and Midland Marine Services Ltd, are known for their Water Safety / Rescue Awareness and First Responder programmes which are aimed at the construction, civil engineering, rail, utilities, events, maintenance, environmental, emergency services, military, expedition and education sectors, where personnel may be working around open water and inland waterways (or being deployed as safety cover), where an element of risk from the water has been flagged up on a risk assessment. Their expertise in this field has been incorporated into the development of our specialised marine environment adapted First Aid at Work and First Responder courses.
